Expanding on what I wrote about yesterday, once you have gotten yourself back into the mindset of “studying”, you need to cultivate studying skills. In this case, skills relevant to successfully passing high stakes English proficiency tests like IELTS and PTE Academic.
Taken from my guidebook “Essential Skills for Adults to Ace English Proficiency Tests”, let’s break down the skills and habits you need to develop!
In a nutshell: IN ORDER TO ACE AN ENGLISH TEST, YOU NEED TO IMPROVE YOUR COMMAND OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE! There are no shortcuts. Sure, some will tell you there are tips and tricks but really, it all comes down to improvement.
Some useful links!
I often use AI as a teaching aid. Chat GPT has become an essential tool. Learn more about Chat GPT from Open AI.
Pearson PTE Academic Scored Practice Tests (official). These are the ONLY mock tests you can safely use as a gauge of your current level. Sure, there are heaps of online AI marking sites, but this is the closest to the actual test and is OFFICIAL! I use other sites like APEUni for teaching and demonstrations, but will only ever recommend official Pearson material for testing/mock testing.
IELTS practice tests are always best (and safest) when purchased from the source or the official resource provider.
Now that you have a roadmap of how to prepare for the tests, we will focus on the actual tests! Heaps of information and free material will be posted soon!
